Thank you for 153 boots!
We can’t thank you enough for stepping up!
Have you heard? Our 100 Boot Challenge raised $15,355, enough to put 153 pairs of boots on our workers’ feet. That’s 1,530 toes that are kept safe, warm, and dry while at work.
With Canada’s unemployment rate the highest it’s been in almost 50 years, reducing barriers to work is more important than ever before.
By supporting EMBERS, you’re directly impacting the lives of people facing employment barriers. Our workers are dedicated and hard working and access to safety equipment often means the difference between putting food on the table or not.
Plus, research shows that for every $1 paid to workers in our community, the estimated social return on investment (SROI) is $4.132 because people:
- Move into better working and living environments, and crime and violence rates decrease
- Are less reliant on social assistance including income assistance, food banks, shelter allowances, and health care
- Become financially stable, and experience increased confidence, happiness, and improved social ties
- Spend more money in the community, promoting healthier local businesses
This means that this year’s 100 Boot Challenge totals over $63,000 in social benefits!
