May Employee of the Month
The EMBERS Staffing Solutions Employee of the Month program is made possible by our friends at Home Depot, who are supplying the winner with $100 of tools and equipment to help them on their journey to becoming economically self-sufficient.
No stranger to hard work, our May Employee of the Month Wayne has been honing his carpentry skills for nearly 30 years.
Having first come to EMBERS Staffing Solutions nearly three years ago, Wayne has earned a reputation around the office as a skilled and reliable worker who can tackle any job.
For Wayne, the reason he keeps coming back to EMBERS is simple: “I get work every day,” says Wayne. “EMBERS is great because they keep me busy and working. That’s all I can ask for.”
Like many other workers who come to EMBERS, Wayne has a past that makes it difficult to find traditional full-time employment.
“I have a record and have been in and out of jail a few times,” says Wayne. “But now, I only have 7 months left on my parole and I will be done with it for good.”
Living in a halfway house for now, Wayne is committed to keeping busy and staying out of trouble in the long-term, and thanks EMBERS for being there for him and getting him work when he needed it.
“EMBERS is just what I need. I came right back to EMBERS when I got out of jail the last time, and I have been working straight for three months.”
“It’s such a good place to work. It’s a fair and honest place and everyone here makes me feel comfortable.”
For Wayne, knowing that the whole EMBERS team is supporting him and helping him has been one of his motivators for working so hard.
“EMBERS has helped me out so many times. Just recently I was working out in Richmond and was paired up with another worker who had a car and was driving us every morning. One day he couldn’t go to work and drive me out there, but I promised the site I would work. When I came into the office at five in the morning, they drove me out so I didn’t miss out on work and let the site down – that was huge for me.”
Putting his past behind him, Wayne is looking forward to planning for the future, “I am hoping to find a full-time carpenter’s job some day. I would really like that.”
