EMBERS Eastside Works Opening Celebration Recap
Yesterday, community members, local organizations, and officials from the City of Vancouver and the Government of B.C., gathered to celebrate the opening of EMBERS Eastside Works.
Hosted by EMBERS and Urban Core, this community celebration marked the opening of a new, income generation hub located in the heart of the Downtown Eastside.
“Eastside Works is about creating an inclusive economy that provides space for people to earn income and be productive in a way that fits their needs and abilities,” says EMBERS Founder and CEO Marcia Nozick. “Our belief is that everyone has something to offer, everyone has the capacity to be productive.”
At the event, Wes Regan, Community Economic Development Planner at the City of Vancouver, read an official proclamation from the City, proclaiming April 19 “An Inclusive Economy for All Day.” Each April 19th moving forward, the Downtown Eastside community will celebrate residents and local organizations that are the foundation of building An Inclusive Economy for All.
Committed to helping people improve their livelihoods, EMBERS Eastside Works provides:
- Help finding part-time and flexible work opportunities.
- Access to training and support.
- Connections to the community and local workforce.
On behalf of the EMBERS team and Urban Core, thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to celebrate the opening of Eastside Works!
