EMBERS is a social enterprise and registered community economic development charity located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Since 2001, EMBERS has helped thousands of people facing employment barriers by offering economic and employment opportunities—including job placements, training and support.

EMBERS is currently looking for a recent graduate to provide support to the IT and Marketing departments. The IT team manages our operational software, collaborates on projects including managing the implementation process, and works with other stakeholders to help guide strategy. The marketing department builds and maintains the EMBERS brand and communicates key messages to current and prospective clients, workers, donors, sponsors, and volunteers. As well, this team coordinates any fundraising events including the 100 Boot Challenge and annual golf tournament.

Key responsibilities

  • Create or modify crystal reports from the operations software
  • Thoroughly understand operations software and assist with implementation of unused components
  • Support website redevelopment integration with operations software
  • Complete software and marketing research assignments
  • Assist with day-to-day technology needs such as setting up new user accounts

Skills and qualifications


  • Completed or pursuing post-secondary education in marketing, communications, computer science, business or equivalent
  • Polite and professional demeanour
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and detail-oriented
  • Able to take initiative

Considered an asset

  • Web analytics experience
  • Sql Databases experience
  • Crystal Reports experience

Supervision and training

The IT Assistant will be given an overview of the technology tools and operations procedures. There will be weekly team check-ins to ensure that everyone in the IT and operations teams are updated on goals and progress.
