EMBERS is growing quickly and we are looking for an Events & Marketing Specialist with the motivation and dedication to grow professionally with our organization. As the Events & Marketing Specialist, you will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of day-to-day marketing and events initiatives. The EMBERS impact

Canada’s unemployment rate is the highest it’s been in almost 50 years. In 2017, EMBERS placed 1,900 temporary workers on job sites who clocked a combined 304,000 hours of work. This is roughly equivalent to 152 full-time jobs.

Studies confirm that employment and income directly impact a person’s wellbeing and quality of life. For almost 20 years, EMBERS has employed thousands of people and paid out over $25 million in wages and benefits to workers in our community.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage and execute all aspects of the EMBERS golf tournament, delegating tasks as necessary and supporting leadership team in meeting fundraising goals
  • Execute content and e-marketing, website management, social media, graphic design, and advertising
  • Provide collaborative marketing support to each division at EMBERS, including EMBERS Staffing Solutions, EMBERS Eastside Works, and EMBERS Academy
  • Support other projects such as fundraising, grant writing, sales, and business development, as needed
  • Manage relationships with key vendors and contractors including graphic designers, web developers, printers, etc.
  • Support worker recruitment marketing strategy
  • Recruit and manage marketing interns and consultants to help execute on the marketing and events strategy, as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Two to three years of experience in marketing
  • Two to three years of experience in planning and/or supporting events, fundraising events considered an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field, and a strong business acumen
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and can interact with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PPT and Excel
  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress
  • Deadline-driven with strong project management skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively within established deadlines
  • Independent worker with ability to multitask
  • Resourceful and adaptable, with strong problem-solving skills

Working conditions

  • Some evening and weekend work is required, mainly during events

We offer a competitive starting salary ($45,000 to $50,000) and a comprehensive benefits package that includes extended health care, life insurance, dental care, and an employee and family assistance program.
