How do I set up an account with EMBERS Staffing Solutions?
For first time customers, please call our Vancouver office at 604-692-0781 or Surrey office at 778-293-0781 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday and ask to speak with a Sales Representative. You will be asked to fill in a credit application and signed rate agreement.

What is different about EMBERS Staffing Solutions?
EMBERS is a non-profit, socially responsible alternative to typical employment agencies providing temporary labour jobs. We pay higher wages than our competitors. Workers are paid weekly. 100% of profits go toward providing job support and value-added training to advantage our workers in the workplace. Our workers are highly motivated and reliable. Workers are individually assessed and screened to provide the right person for the job.

What is the advantage of hiring EMBERS Staffing Solutions?
Hiring EMBERS Staffing Solutions employees allows you the flexibility of "just-in-time" staffing. With our services to help you fill temporary labour jobs, you are free to concentrate on other aspects of your business. Your risk is reduced, as you can try someone out for a trial period. EMBERS Staffing Solutions handles all paperwork, payroll processing including employer contributions to Employment Insurance (EI), employer contributions to Workers Compensation Board, Canadian Pension Plan (CPP), 4% holiday pay, statutory holiday pay, T4 and Record of Employment processing.

How do I place a job order with your temporary employment agency?
Call our Vancouver office at 604-692-0781 or Surrey office at 778-293-0781 and let our receptionist know that you wish to a place an order for temporary labour workers. Our Recruiter will then speak to you about your needs for the job and ensure that the right person is matched to your job request.

What if I need to place a job order and it is after normal business hours?
We are on call 24 hours, 7 days per week to provide you with the best and most responsive help in order to meet your temporary employment needs.

How much notice does EMBERS Staffing Solutions require?
We can dispatch you dependable temporary labour employees to fill your needs within 24 hours. Often, we can provide an employee sooner, within an hour or two.

How much does it cost to transfer an EMBERS Staffing Solutions employee to our payroll?
Free of charge after being employed through EMBERS Staffing Solutions for 480 hours. If you would like to hire an employee full time, please contact EMBERS to discuss. While we believe three months provides both you and the temporary employee time to assess each other, we are always pleased when a temporary job turns into a permanent position.

How do we pay for EMBERS Staffing Solutions services?
EMBERS Staffing Solutions will bill you weekly, payable within 30 days.

What type of payment does EMBERS Staffing Solutions accept?
You have a choice of paying by cheque or credit card.

How do workers get to our place of business?
EMBERS Staffing Solutions ensures workers are on your site on time.

What if an EMBERS employee doesn’t work out?
Tell us within two hours that you are unhappy for any reason and we’ll send a new worker and credit your account.

How do I apply for a temporary labour job?
Fill in our online application and come into the office Monday - Thursday at 9:30am for an interview. Be sure to arrive a few minutes early to complete last minute paperwork. If you have trouble filling in the application, visit our office in person and someone will help you.

Once I start work, how do I get paid?
EMBERS pays its staff for temporary labour jobs on a weekly basis, not on a daily basis. Our work week is from Sunday to Saturday, and time sheets must be submitted to the EMBERS office by 5:00 pm on Monday for hours worked the previous week. Paycheques are available for pickup between 1:00 and 6:00 pm on Fridays, or during office hours the following week.

How do I submit my timesheet?
Timesheets can be accessed on our website and submitted in three ways:
  • Dropped off at our Vancouver or Surrey offices
  • Take a photo or scan your timesheet and e-mail it to our Vancouver office at info@embersvancouver.com or our Surrey office at surrey@embersstaffing.com
  • Fax your timesheet to Vancouver office at 604-692-0780 or our Surrey office at 778-293-0782
What sort of equipment do I need?
A full list of equipment required for your temporary labour job will vary from site to site depending on the nature of work and the position held. The standard equipment required for general labor positions on a construction site consists of:
  • Steel-toed work boots
  • High-visibility vest
  • Hard hat
  • Work gloves
What if I don’t have safety equipment?
EMBERS Staffing Solutions is pleased to offer an equipment lending program in order to help new candidates get started with their temporary labour jobs. We are able to offer work boots, hi-visibility vests, hard hats, and occasionally additional equipment as it is available. Equipment must be signed out for short-term lending, or can be purchased from EMBERS under special circumstances.
